British singer Adele, who recently underwent a throat surgery for repairing her vocal chords, has now reached to the top. The singer’s second album, which was also nominated for the Grammys has sold more copies than any other album in the US.
If at all the singer was allowed to even talk, she would have screamed with joy at the final tally of the single sales as well as the iTunes album released this week. Her album ‘21’ has reached to the top spot over the past 11 months at the iTunes album chart as well as the singles chart.
The single ‘Rolling In the Deep’ has been a major contributor in reaching the top position. However, iTunes does not announced sales figures but said that Adele was very good for the business and also named her as the Artist of the Year.
This is the first time an artist has taken away the site’s top three awards. The singer in a statement said that she is thrilled to top the iTunes album and song charts for the year 2011. Meanwhile, Nicki Minaj was named as the Breakthrough artist of the Year and Foster the People claimed the Song of The Year.
