American rock band Alter Bridge has started working on their fourth studio album, according to the band’s website. With the new release, the rockers aim to top their highly successful ABIII album from 2010.
Alter Bridge posted a picture on their website on January 4, 2013, with singer Myles Kennedy and guitarist Mark Tremonti holding guitars and a tagline stating that they had started working on new material. Later on January 7, 2013, the band posted on their site that the writing process for their next album tentatively titled AB4, has started in earnest.
The album is expected to release in 2013 and the band has mentioned that their studio sessions have been quite productive so far. Both Mark Tremonti and Myles Kennedy are busy musicians and tour almost year-round. Tremonti released his solo album in 2012, which was a heavier offering than his other bands Creed and Alter Bridge. Kennedy is touring with Slash (from Guns N’ Roses fame) and working on solo material as well. This grueling schedule leaves little time for the musicians to have unproductive periods and a lot of work will need to be put in to release the new album this year.
Tremonti will be starting an European and United States tour with his solo project in February 2013, while Kennedy will be heading to Europe with Slash on January 31, 2013.
