Popular English indie rock band Arctic Monkeys and the ‘Roar’ singer Katy Perry are scheduled to perform at the 2014 Brit Awards, which is the most prestigious awards event of the British music industry. The ‘Fluorescent Adolescent’ musicians will perform a live set during the opening of the televised show. The famous band is an early signing for the upcoming show – scheduled to take place in February 2014 – along with the pop princess.
The 2014 Brit Awards will see the return of the Tony-award winning actor-turned-writer James Corden as the host and the show will be aired on ITV. Organizers announced that Corden will present the awards for the fifth and final time. In the past, the popular awards ceremony featured pranks, on-stage arguing and swearing, until the organizers asked for a more appropriate behavior.
The ‘I Bet You Look Good On The Dance Floor’ musicians did not have a good relationship with the Brit Awards during the previous years and refused to attend the ceremony back in 2006 when they won the the breakthrough act award. In addition to that, they sent a mocking video message where they were seen dressed up as the Wizard of Oz characters a year later, in 2007 and in 2008 they accepted their award in person, but dressed as country squires.
However, the band finally decided to make peace with the Brits Awards, as they have become one of the pre-eminent rock bands in the UK.
