In a year when you can expect the worst (looking at you, 2016), let’s take random celebrity beefs into account. We are not talking about the whole Kim Kardashian-Taylor Swift or Calvin Harris-Taylor Swift or Demi Lovato-Taylor Swift or everybody-and-Taylor Swift beefs, we are talking about two random people from two different walks of life getting it on in public due to a joke that was in poor taste. I guess when it comes to something you feel passionately about, whether it’s an ex or a tech bot who gets to do your bidding, you’re willing to get ugly to make your point.
What the hell am I rambling on about, right?
So here’s what went down: Canadian punk princess, Avril Lavigne has toned it down since she was affected by Lyme Disease and separated from fellow Canadian rocker, Nickelback’s frontman Chad Kroeger. She is all about positivity these days and spends her time recovering from the debilitating disease as well as spreading awareness about said disease.
Then we have Facebook’s Mark Zuckerberg. He has been killing it with Facebook, turning all of humanity into social media addicts, and then he also began the sale of the Oculus Rift, a device for virtual reality. Not only that, but he had a baby called Max and started learning Mandarin. Life couldn’t be better for Zuck.
Here’s where it gets icky. Mark released a video on Facebook through his official page, where he spoke about him developing the new device, Jarvis, á la Iron Man style. The video is concise and very entertaining, since the voice behind the artificial intelligence belongs to none other than Morgan Freeman. He takes us through his personal life, his home and family and all looks good – until he makes a joke. He asks Jarvis to play some good Nickelback songs, to which Jarvis replies
I’m sorry, Mark. I’m afraid I can’t do that. There are no good Nickelback songs.
Zuckerberg then jokes that he’s testing Jarvis. End of story. Should get over it, right? But it seems that Avril Lavigne has taken this joke the wrong way. Maybe she still has feelings for her estranged husband, or maybe she’s still proud of her Canadian heritage. Who knows? But the Hello Kitty singer took to Twitter and posted a screenshot of a message she has for Mr. Zuckerberg. It goes
Many people use your products – some people love them and some people don’t. Either way, you’re allowed your musical opinion, however, your jab at Nickelback is in poor taste.
When you have a voice like yours, you may want to consider being more responsible with promoting bullying, especially given what’s going on in the world today.

Well, as of now, Zuckerberg hasn’t responded. Also, Nickelback, the band being made fun of, hasn’t said anything out loud about the whole deal. Guess they’re used to being “bullied”. We will just let this beef die down, like we would want the whole of 2016, am I right?!
