Legendary blues maestro BB King cancels tour dates due to exhaustion.
The 89-year-old blues guitarist BB King has canceled his remaining eight tour dates of his present tour, owing to dehydration and exhaustion. As per his official website, King fell ill on October 3, 2014 after his performance at the House of Blues in Chicago. The eight stops also included his own BB King Blues Club and Grill in New York City.
The ‘King of the Blues’ was inducted in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1987 and has released more than 50 albums in his lifetime.
This is the second time in this year that King has fallen ill. Previously, at the St Louis performance, he had to leave early due to a drop in energy that led to a lot of heckling by fans. The Mississippi artist is known to have Type II diabetes since his diagnosis in 1998. That, paired with high blood sugar and tireless travel involved in the tour has led him to now take it slow.
With over 66 years of career in music, King has performed at more than 10,000 concerts, despite limitations due to his health. At the age of 75, the artist made a conscious decision to do less shows than usual.
So far, there have been no updates on his condition. It is assumed that King is still recovering.
