BET awards 2014 – complete winners list

Pharrel Williams and Nicki Minaj score big at the annual BET awards.

The annual BET awards 2014 kicked off with great pomp and show at the Nokia Theaters in Los Angeles on June 29, 2014. The awards – which were established by the Black Entertainment Television Network in 2001 – give out accolades to the best talent amongst the African American community.

This year’s BET saw artists Pharrel Williams and Nicki Minaj take home the big awards for the night.

The highlights of the ceremony were R&B singer Lionel Richie receiving a Lifetime Achievement Award and a pre-recorded performance by Jay-Z and Beyonce. Other live artist performances included Lil Wayne, Usher, Jhene Aiko, August Alsina and Nicki Minaj.

Pharrel Williams bagged two awards at the gala event including Best R&B artist and Best Video of the year for his phenomenal composition ‘Happy’.

Nicki Minaj swept the Best Female Hip-Hop Artist title for the fifth year in a row, while Jay Z and Beyonce’s ‘Drunk In Love’ won the award for the Best Collaboration.
