Beyoncé Album Lemonade Becomes Top-Selling Album Of 2016

Another day, another reason for Beyoncé to keep slaying. The Hold Up singer’s latest album, Lemonade has become the top-selling album of 2016. According to the International Federation of the Phonographic Industry (IFPI), released through their Global Music Report on an annual basis, Beyoncé has stole the title from Drake. The Canadian rapper did get the title of highest selling record artist, due to his individual tracks selling.

Billboard has previously reported that Prince was the winner for the highest number of sales, after his sudden death. But the sales were spread over a number of albums recorded by the late star over the years. The top artists for 2016 according to IFPI are Justin Bieber, Rihanna, David Bowie, Coldplay, Adele, twenty one pilots, The Weeknd and Prince.

  3. Views – Drake – 2.3 million copies

  6. Blue & Lonesome – The Rolling Stones – 1.8 million copies
  7. 24K Magic – Bruno Mars – 1.7 million copies
  8. Blurryface – twenty one pilots – 1.5 million copies
  9. A Head Full Of Dreams – Coldplay – 1.4 million copies
  10. A Pentatonix Christmas – Pentatonix – 1.4 million copies

Lemonade has become Beyoncé’s most successful album till date. Her risk of involving political themes and intelligent lyrics into her new album has paid off big time. This award season has proved promising for the singer, who is currently pregnant with twins and due anytime soon.
