American superstar Beyonce Knowles performed at ‘The Sound of Change’ concert in London on June 1, 2013. The concert, held at Twickenham Stadium, was intended to raise funds for women’s education, health and justice. Famous singer and actress performed a number of her ‘girl-power’ anthems she is widely known for.

Fundraising concert was organized by Chime for Change, charity established by Italian fashion powerhouse Gucci, which aims to promote gender equality and raise donations for the cause in more than 70 countries around the world. ‘Sweet Dreams’ singer was joined on stage by husband, superstar Jay-Z to perform their huge hit ‘Crazy In Love’, but then proceeded to perform her famous female empowerment songs.

‘Halo’ singer also told the audience that over $4 million was raised so far and urged them to donate more, during her set that lasted 40 minutes and included short films about women’s issues, which starred Beyonce. Other stars at the concert included Florence and The Machine, John Legend and a surprise duet between Jennifer Lopez and Mary J. Blige, who performed in front of over 50,000 people.

The ‘Sound of Change’ concert was broadcast live in more than 150 countries and on primetime TV in the US on June 2, 2013. Tickets were priced between 55 to 95 British pounds and organizers allowed concert-goers to choose which cause their ticket will fund, something that has never been done before.
