American country music star Blake Shelton, who won a Male Video of the Year award at CMT Music Awards in Nashville for his song ‘Sure Be Cool If You Did’, announced his plans to go on a summer tour, starting July 19, 2013 in Virgina Beach. The ‘Boys’ Round Here’ singer was not able to attend the awards ceremony, due to his commitments to widely-popular show ‘The Voice’.
The star explained that his first headlining tour is everything he ever worked for and summer is the perfect time for it. The ‘Over’ singer went on to say, “Looking back, some of my favorite memories of growing up were summertime memories; Fourth of July, my birthday is June 18, and those were some of my most favorite times, and I want to do that again.” Shelton will certainly try his best to make this summer unforgettable, for both his fans and himself.
Next to his tour, ‘Iconic Summer’ is also the name of the star’s recent partnership with soft drink manufacturer Pepsi. With Pepsi’s help, Shelton will celebrate everything great about the summer, but also focus on important causes close to his heart. They will raise funds for various charities, including tornado victims in Oklahoma, Shelton’s hometown. So far, over $6 million was raised through a benefit concert Healing in the Heartland and the star hopes to raise more during summer.
