Pop icon Britney Spears is showing no signs of slowing down and has a new treat for her fans. After the release of provocative dance track ‘Work Bitch’, Spears is changing the pace a little bit and has just premiered her latest video for ‘Perfume’, a mid-tempo love ballad and the second single from her highly anticipated album ‘Britney Jean’.
The ‘Scream and Shout’ singer released the clip on Tuesday, December 10, 2013 and can be seen in a fragrance-heavy love triangle. ‘Perfume’ is directed by Joseph Khan, who previously worked with the pop superstar on ‘Womanizer’ and ‘Toxic’ videos.
Khan managed to follow the lyrical content of the song and showcased a story of jealousy and an an ill-fated engagement ring. The video captures both the highs and the lows of a passionate relationship, which seems appropriate as Spears herself admitted that ‘Britney Jean’ is her ‘most personal album’ so far.
‘Perfume’ is produced by will.i.am and co-written by Sia and it managed to reach No. 76 on the Hot 100 list since its release. When asked about the latest single, Spears said, “Perfume’ is incredibly special to me because it hits close to home, and I think the story is relatable to everyone. Everyone’s been through an insecure moment in a relationship that’s left them vulnerable and I think this song captures that.”
