Once you’re done with summer, there’s a bigger, better, bolder music event that isn’t only here to entertain you, but to make a positive change to the world. The Global Citizen Festival is taking place this year at Central Park in New York the day after autumn officially begins – September 23.
The official performers have been announced, with a probability of more on the way. Stevie Wonder, yes, the legend, is set to headline. There’s also Green Day, The Killers, The Lumineers and The Chainsmokers. Add to that, there are special guest performances from Alessia Cara, Andra Day, Big Sean and Pharrell Williams.
Also, there’s a grand way where you can actually earn free tickets for the Global Citizen Festival. All you need to do is download the official app, then keep taking steps to bring change – sign petitions, send messages to those in public office, tweet. With each action that you take, points will be added to your account. When you’ve collected the qualifying number of points, you enter a lottery, lucky draw or whatever you call it. And if your name is pulled out, voila, two FREE tickets to the winner!
Global Citizen Festival is one of the biggest international festivals. It takes place all year at different international locations, including Germany and India. The main focus of the festival is to bring awareness to the masses and use their voices and their collective power to bring positive change to the world. Some of the performers at past Global Citizen Festivals include Rihanna, Metallica and Coldplay, among others. It is said that last year alone, 60,000 attendees managed to bring change to over 199 million people. Now that’s impressive!
