Corey Taylor Says Next Slipknot Album Will Be Out In Two Years

I guess when it comes to masterpieces, you got to let the masters take their time. The “masters of puppets”, Metallica took eight years to bring us Hardwired… To Self-Destruct, so when it comes to American heavy metal band, Slipknot, they too are making us fans wait. And wait we will.

Bandmate Shawn “Clown” Crahan had said that he and Jim Root were working on new material, hinting that Slipknot were going to come out with an album by 2017. To quote Clown: “I’ve been on to Jim Root, like, ‘Man, we’ve gotta write an art record, our Wall, our Sgt Pepper’s.’ I’d love if we could do a double album with interludes. Have a concept, maybe like a movie. Things that have all been done before – but our way, our interpretation. That would be a grand slam for The Clown.”

Listen to some Slipknot while you’re at it.

But when asked about whether the news was true and for developments on what was happening with Slipknot, frontman Corey Taylor shut that shizz down. He tweeted through his Official Twitter JUDEAN PPL’S FRONT (@CoreyTaylorRock): “Not really. That just means they’re gonna start writing music. We won’t go in the studio for two years.” When he was asked to confirm Clown’s statement of having a conceptual album, he had said: “It’s an interesting idea. They told me to start thinking about an idea for a story. We’ll see what happens.”

What he is doing is concentrating on his other band, Stone Sour. They are at it and are looking to get their sixth release out there as soon as possible. “We have 18 songs demoed. It’s the best material we’ve ever written. This album is going to eat people – it’s so good. It’s gonna destroy people.”

You gotta f*cking love Corey Taylor.

Slipknot’s last release was in 2014 with their .5: The Gray Chapter.
