Hole singer and grunge queen, Courtney Love has signed up for a role in a Lifetime TV movie on the Menendez double homicide case. She will be playing the role of Kitty Menendez, the mother and one of the victims in the sensational murder case.
The Menendez murder case, trial and conviction was a high profile one in the late 1980s. Two brothers, Lyle and Erik Menendez were accused and later convicted for the murder of both their parents using a shotgun. Allegedly, in 1989 the family went on a shark hunting trip, after which the brothers killed their parents and then went out with friends for a movie and drinks out on the town. They had dumped the murder weapon on the famous Mulholland Drive and created a perfect alibi to absolve themselves of the crimes. Kitty was a wealthy Hollywood mom, known for her extravagant lifestyle. It was later known that the boys had suffered years of sexual abuse from their father, while their mother knew of it, but chose to ignore her husband’s deviousness.
The yet untitled movie is being directed by Party Monster directors Fenton Bailey and Randy Barbato. Like their previous movie, this will be known for its gritty-glam theme and will be perfect for an audience who grew up following the highly televised trial that took place in 1994.
This is not Courtney Love’s first foray into acting. She was highly acclaimed for her role in The People v. Larry Flint that earned her a Golden Globe Award nomination. Shooting for her new movie will begin in Vancouver in February and we are looking forward to watching this murder-thriller.
Courtney’s daughter with the late Nirvana frontman Kurt Cobain, Frances Bean Cobain, is also making her first moves in the glamour industry. As of now, she is looking forward to a modelling career like so many other child stars. The 24-year-old artist just appeared as the face of Marc Jacobs’ Spring/Summer ’17 line. Courtney herself modelled for the famed fashion designer along with shock rocker Marilyn Manson last year.
