In an accident straight out of a nightmare, the body of country singer and member of band, Backroad Anthem, Craig Strickland was found on January 4th.
On December 27, he and friend Chase Morland set out for a duck hunting trip. In fact, Morland tweeted: “In case we don’t come back, @BackroadCRAIG and I are going through Winter Storm Goliath to kill ducks in Oklahoma”. That proved to be a death note, because soon the two friends went missing, though Chase’s body was found soon after along with Craig’s dog who loyally stayed by his side. However, the country star remained out of sight and friends, family and fans searched and prayed for the best. Search parties revealed that their boat had capsized in the storm and there was little to no hope of survival as the days slowly passed into a week of Strickland missing.
His wife Helen, former Miss Arkansas, put up a photograph on her Instagram account earlier in the day that was captioned: “Craig was found today. We can finally rest knowing that he is at Home in Heaven with his Father. The night of the accident he had fought his way out of the water and up a hill before the stages of hypothermia set in. He experienced no pain in his final moments and simply felt like he was falling asleep. They found him lying in the shape of a cross looking up to his Father.”
She continued: “Thank you to every single person who prayed for him and our family during this time. There was not a more peaceful way for him to go into the arms of our Lord, and I know your prayers had a role in making that happen. I know he saw Jesus at that moment when he laid down and walked arm in arm with Him into a better Everlasting Life. I love you with all my heart Craig Michael.”
It is believed that the storm in which Craig perished, known as Goliath, has taken the lives of over 50 people last year.
May the lost country singer Rest In Peace and we extend our heartfelt condolences to his grieving widow and family.
