Electronic music duo Daft Punk are back again with their fourth studio album, which will be their first in eight years. Oscar-winning song writer Paul Williams, Feist collaborator Chilly Gonzales, Animal Collective’s Panda Bear and disco pioneer Giorgio Moroder have reportedly collaborated with the French dance duo Thomas Bangaltar and Guy Manuel de Homem Christo for their new record due in May 2013.
The duo have signed the new record deal with the Sony-owned Columbia label. They had released their debut album titled ‘Homework’ in 1997, followed by ‘Discovery’ in 2001 and ‘Human After All’ in 2005. Daft Punk played their last live show in the UK at the Wireless Festival in 2007. Their most recent music release was the soundtrack for ‘Tron: Legacy’ in 2010.
The band is noted for their use of visual components associated with their musical productions. It is believed that the mystery of their identity and the elaborate nature of their disguises have added to their popularity. Chances of new live shows from the duo are not very promising though. Festival organizer and BBC Radio 1 DJ Rob da Bank also confirmed that the band would not tour in 2013. This news will surely come as a disappointment to many of their fans, who are waiting eagerly for the electronic music band to hit the stage once again.
