Though he’s not here to celebrate it in person, the love was real and still shared among many. Kurt’s birthday fell on February 20th. And one of the most beautiful tributes paid to him on social media belonged to his only child, daughter Frances Bean Cobain.

Kurt Cobain was one of the most talented musicians of our generation. He made grunge mainstream, by technically inventing it. The star produced a cult following for his band, and contributed not only to music but to fashion as well. However, his life was plagued by mysterious illnesses, including a stomach upset that threatened to halt his ability to perform. Also, he underwent several life-threatening overdoses due to his problem with drugs, especially heroin. In the end, he succumbed to his lifestyle and committed suicide with a single shot to the head with a handgun in his home, after escaping a rehab facility. He is survived by his wife, front woman of grunge band, Hole, Courtney Love. During their tumultuous relationship, they bore the fruit of their love with only child, daughter Frances Bean Cobain.

Frances paid homage to her late father by producing a documentary on the life of her father, with home videos and never-before-seen footage and photographs. The documentary, Montage Of Heck became a much-celebrated movie.
