Drake will not perform for the headline at the Wireless Festival.
Canadian rapper Drake has saddened fans with his recent announcement stating his exit from the Wireless Festival this weekend. The festival is slated to take place from 4 – 6th July in London and Birmingham.
Drake on Thursday July 3, 2014 confirmed that he will not be performing for the headline slot at the Wireless Festival. The 27-year old artist has cited health reasons for the unfortunate back out.
“To my beloved fans, it truly breaks my heart that I won’t be able to perform as planned at Wireless and Roskilde this weekend. I got sick a few days ago and although I am on my way to bouncing back, my doctors have made it clear that I am not physically fit to fly or deliver the performance my fans expect and deserve from me,” said Drake in a statement.
Festival organizers Live Nation have assured fans that all the three days of the Wireless Festival will go ahead as per schedule in both London and Birmingham.
British band Rudimental will play an extended set in Birmingham on July 4 to fill in for the void created by Drake’s absence.
Disheartened fans who had tickets to watch Drake will be compensated by the festival organizers, ticket holders for the Friday show in Birmingham will receive £20 of “wireless credit” which can be redeemed at the festival venue in the form of food, beverages and purchase of merchandise.
