Hip hop star Drake is back on the music scene in style, as his latest album, ‘Nothing Was The Same’ managed to debut at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart. The highly-anticipated record also scored the second-biggest sales week of 2013, as it sold 658,000 copies in its first week of release.
Meanwhile, pop icon Justin Timberlake is still holding the number one spot when it comes to sales in 2013, as his latest record, ‘The 20/20 Experience’ sold an astounding 968,000 copies in its first week of release in March 2013.
Even though the ‘Hold On, We’re Going Home’ rapper had plenty of success with his previous releases, ‘Nothing Was The Same’ marks his personal best week so far. His 2011’s release, ‘Take Care’ took the No. 1 spot and sold 631,000 copies, while his debut album released in 2010, titled ‘Thank Me Later’ also claimed the top spot and sold 447,000 copies. His very first release, EP ‘So Far Gone’ from 2009 managed to sell 73,000 units, but did not reach the No. 1 spot, settling for No. 6 instead.
The ‘All Me’ rapper is making history with his third studio album, as ‘Nothing Was The Same’ marks the biggest week for a hip hop album since September 2011, when Lil Wayne released ‘Tha Carter IV’, which sold an impressive 964,000 copies and reached the top spot.
