Ed Sheeran is totally on a roll. Since introducing his latest album to the world, he has managed to keep going up and higher in the game. As of 2017, Sheeran’s album, Divide has gone on to become the highest selling album.
According to official reports, Divide sold over 322,000 copies in the first week of its release. Divide was released through Atlantic Records on March 3, and sold the record-breaking number of albums in the first week ending March 9, in the United States alone. This report was released by Nielsen Records.
Sheeran’s Divide comes on the heels of Bruno Mars’ 24K Magic that had sold 230,000 upon release in its first week. And he has defeated his own record of the maximum number of records sold in the first week, with 2014’s Multiply that had sold 209,000 at the time.
Earlier this year, Ed Sheeran had dropped a couple of singles from Divide, to the delight of fans. Castle On The Hill and Shape Of You started topping the charts almost immediately. He had taken time off since his last album to travel the world and get back his inspiration. And it seems that it is working out just fine for him. He even performed Shape Of You as a one-man band for the Grammys 2017.
It isn’t only in music that Ed Sheeran is killin’ it. Reports recently emerged that he is going to be playing a cameo role for the upcoming Season 7 of HBO’s hit series, Game Of Thrones. Though his role has not been confirmed yet, we are sure that fans will recognize his famous face as he makes it to the mythical land of Westeros.
As for his album, he’s doing great, with Shape Of You not looking like it’s going to be coming down from the Top 10 for a while.
