If there is one bloke who is on top of the world (and on top of the charts), it has to be Ed Sheeran. Already, his latest album, Divide has reached number one and his single from the album, Shape Of You is playing practically everywhere. The shy redhead is a force to reckon with on on the world stage, but what is he like in real life? Before the release of Divide, he managed to keep himself out of the spotlight for a couple of years, becoming a hermit and traveling the world, with no music to talk of. And now he’s come back with a bang, playing at every major music event and taking interviews left, right and centre.
Sheeran sat down with Rolling Stone magazine to talk first about his mysterious love life. We are dying to know what goes on behind the scenes, so curious are we about this awkward boy-man. He’s currently in a relationship with Cherry Seaborn, a lass he has known since high school, but only started dating a couple of years ago. But the star has some juicy news to dish. He says that during 2015, when he was opening for best friend, Taylor Swift’s 1989 Tour, he did hook up with a number of her Swift Squad members, who are no doubt a bunch of gorgeous, famous ladies. “Taylor’s world is celebrity. I was this 22-year-old awkward British kid going on tour with the biggest artist in America, who has all these famous mates. It was very easy…I would often find myself in situations just kind of waking up and looking over and being like, ‘How the f*ck did that happen?'”
There were also major tabloid reports that Ed Sheeran and Taylor Swift did, in fact, date for a while. But he’s quick to dismiss that. “I found that aspect quite lazy journalism. There wasn’t any truth to it whatsoever…She’s omnipresent because she’s the most famous woman in the world, so she can’t make the decision to not be in the press. I always stick up for Taylor.”
Diverting from the attention on his personal life, he talks about his expansion in the music business, that he has now become a household name for. He’s planning on starting a boy band, and is already auditioning members. And, the talented musician has already penned a number of songs for them to perform together. “Really, really decent. Superpop, but obviously credible. I’m gonna put three or four boys together and do all the songs, take them on the stadium tour with me.”
