Hip hop superstar Eminem decided to celebrate Mother’s Day on Sunday, May 11, 2014 by debuting an emotional music video for ‘Headlights’. In the latest video – directed by Spike Lee – the famous rapper apologizes to his mother for referencing her in a negative way in his past releases.
At the beginning of April 2014, the ‘Lose Yourself’ rapper announced on Twitter and Instagram that Lee, the legendary filmmaker will be directing the ‘Headlights’ music video in Detroit, Eminem’s hometown. Lee is famous for directing classics such as ‘Malcolm X’, ‘Jungle Fever’ and ‘Do The Right Thing’. On May 9, 2014, the ‘Not Afraid’ rapper released a teaser of the highly anticipated video on YouTube.
The music video for ‘Headlights’ explores the relationship between Eminem and his mom, Debbie Matters. Even though the famous rapper and his mother had plenty of ups and downs, the audience will be able to see them reconnecting after years of fighting in the video.
Eminem’s latest single features Nate Ruess, the .Fun frontman and is the newest video from his ‘The Marshall Mathers LP 2’, which debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard chart following its release in November 2013. The hip hop legend will become the first rapper to headline Wembley Stadium in London and will perform at the venue on July 11, 2014 and July 12, 2014.
