If you’ve caught yourself dancing to the tune of Bailando, you are not alone. Currently, there are over 2 billion times that people have enjoyed the beat by Enrique Iglesias, Gente De Zona and Descemer Bueno. There are currently two versions on YouTube – English and Spanish. The former is almost a remix with Sean Paul included in the mix. But the Spanish version is where the magic really happens, and has broken a record of its own with more views that a random Taylor Swift track.
Bailando was released back in 2014, and a year later had already garnered an astonishing 1 billion views. This was the first time that a song of Spanish origin reached such a milestone. And now, just shy of two years since it’s first achievement, the track has gone on to garner 2 billion views! Bailando is a special song for fans. It spent the maximum number of weeks – 41 in total – at the top of the Latin charts and has been playing on local radios since its release.
The man behind the famous, infectious track, Enrique Iglesias is really happy about this feat. “You never know where a hit is going to come from. There’s just something about this song,” he told Billboard when Bailando first became a hit. He was sure to thank fans for their support and love, saying, “Thank you to all my fans! I love you guys!”
Enrique Iglesias has come a long way from his days being the quintessential pop star with tracks like Hero and Addicted that were the early 2000s staples. His career has seen him collaborate with some of the biggest fellow pop stars, including former Pussycat Dolls star Nicole Scherzinger and Ciara.
And after hearing this great news about the metaphorical resurrection of one of Latin’s most talented veteran pop singers, sounds like a good time to go back and put Bailamos on repeat!
