Is the best news you’ve heard in a long time or what? Evanescence are finally coming out with a new album! After six years of leaving their fans waiting, front woman Amy Lee made the exciting announcement through the band’s official Facebook page. And they’ve even come up with a name for the album, so we know that this time, their announcement is concrete. Drum roll, please…Evanescence’s upcoming album name is Synthesis.
Amy Lee says in the video, “Synthesis. We’re calling it that to represent the combination, the contrast and the synergy between the organic and the synthetic and also the past and the present.”
“We’ve gone through our entire catalogue of music and picked out the songs that were made to be heard in this way and we’re sewing them together from the ground up, this isn’t a remix.”
The video was taken in Lee’s home studio, where she creates her music and regularly posts covers and singles through her personal YouTube page. This is also the same studio where she created her children’s lullaby album, Dream Too Much.
Evanescence has gone through a number of creative changes over the course of their career. Their debut album, Origin topped all the rock charts upon its release, followed by other successful albums, like The Open Door that spawned hits like Lithium. Their last full studio album was their self-titled one, which was followed by a tour across the United States.
The line-up for the band has also changed several times, with members leaving and being replaced. However, in an earlier interview, Amy Lee had spoken about the band’s current lineup and why she is excited for their future projects. The only original Evanescence member is Amy Lee. The band members include Tim McCord, Will Hunt, Troy McLawhorn and Jen Majura. This is the first time that the band has involved another woman, apart from Amy Lee.
