While Kendrick Lamar was stealing the show for HUMBLE, there was a controversy brewing on the stage at the 2017 MTV VMAs. Fifth Harmony are down to four members now after Camila Cabello quit the band in 2016. And they wanted to make sure they were telling the world they are “stronger than ever” by throwing major shade at their former group member.
As they took the stage for a breathtaking performance, at the centre of their formation was a fifth member who fell off before they began belting their hits. Many took it to appear like they were calling out Camila Cabello for ditching them in the hopes of a solo career. But Fifth Harmony today made an appearance on Good Morning America, where they spoke about that controversial performance.
“We get asked all the time if we’re getting a fifth member, and we wanted to show the world in an artistic way that, hey, the four of us are Fifth Harmony.”
“We’re stronger and better than we’ve ever been. Honestly, it was such a monumental moment for us. We were at the VMAs. We had rain. We had splits. We had a mic drop.”
