British pop star Geri Halliwell is set to return to the music scene. The former Spice Girl is scheduled to release her new single, titled Half Of Me’ on October 25, 2013 through a recording deal with Sony Music Australia. Halliwell – who became a household name as Ginger Spice – released a statement about the upcoming song and explained that ‘Half Of Me’ is about love, optimism and hope, with a bit of humor.
Halliwell’s latest single was co-written and produced by the Australian team DNA. The ‘Lift Me Up’ singer has been enjoying her time Down Under, where she is on the judging panel for ‘Australia’s Got Talent’. Halliwell said, “I’ve been so welcomed by the Aussies – it’s fantastic I wrote my new song there.”
Nearly two decades have passed since the Spice Girls took the music scene by storm. They came up with the phrase ‘Girl Power’ and went on to become a global brand, selling over 75 million records worldwide. The ‘Scream If You Wanna Go Faster’ singer left the band in 1998, before the release of their third studio album ‘Forever’.
All five Spice Girls reunited for their ‘Return of the Spice Girls’ world tour in 2007 and 2008 and Halliwell said at the time that the tour is probably going to be their last. Her last solo album, ‘Passion’ was released in 2005.
