Green Day Going “Bang, Bang” This August!

Punk band, Green Day just announced that they will be releasing a brand new track, out August 11th. Frontman and alum, Billie Joe Armstrong updated his Instagram with a simple, direct post for his thousands of followers

Green Day, who last released music in December 2015 with Xmas Time Of The Year have not made a public appearance as a band since then. Their last album was way back in 2012 with Uno! Dos! Tré! Of course, the Bay Area punk pioneers are known to take their time, but fans are never left disappointed with the music they put out, once their album is done to perfection.

Billie Joe has been busy these past few months, his latest performance being for the movie Geezer, that also stars rock n roll icon Joan Jett and Judy Greer. He also released a collaboration with Nora Jones which was an Everly Brothers cover album. However, the biggest achievement for the band, apart from their multi-platinum selling albums and Grammy awards, was their induction into the Rock n Roll Hall of Fame that took place last year.

Hope you’re having the Time Of Your Life!

Green Day first attained cult status in 1992 when they first released Dookie. They became world famous with their forthcoming albums, including American Idiot and 21st Century Breakdown. They won a number of awards, including multiple Grammys for their hits Wake Me Up When September Ends and Boulevard Of Broken Dreams. They are known for the punk work, though some people – including Sex Pistols frontman John Lydon refutes this claim. Green Day has been known for their political references and rebellious lyrics. They did face criticism in 2012 when they performed at iHeartRadio Music Festival and were asked to leave the stage to make way for Usher. In his typical rebellious style, Armstrong was extremely vocal about this and had to end up going to rehab for his outburst, though fellow band member and longtime friend, Mike Durnt stood up for his friend.

Anyway, here’s looking forward to some more great music from one of our favourite punk bands of the past 2 decades.
