Green Day has finally returned to the stage over the weekend and performed their first concert with Billie Joe Armstrong after his stint at the rehab. Rolling Stone said that the band performed at a sold-out show, which lasted for two hours on March 10, 2013 at the Fox Theatre in Pomona California.
Green Day had earlier postponed the beginning of their 2013 world tour following Armstrong’s on-stage meltdown. This took place during a concert at the iHeart Radio Music Festival in the month of September in Las Vegas. Reports said that the frontman of the band had launched a rant and smashed his guitar on the stage at the festival. After a couple of days, a representative of Armstrong announced that he will head to rehab for substance abuse.
After the meltdown, the singer said that he could only remember a few things from the previous night. He then called his manager, who said that he will be put on a plane to Oakland and will be going to rehab immediately. Reports mentioned that Green Day only played much older material for their concert on Sunday and that the musicians were expected to present new material from last year’s three album series soon.
