It’s an even sadder day for goths, because the daddy of shock rocker Marilyn Manson has passed away. Hugh Warner was a man who supported his son, even though the world had a lot to say about the self-proclaimed Anti-Christ Superstar. In an emotional Twitter post, Marilyn Manson (real name Brian Warner), posted a throwback image of him as a child with his father, with the caption: “Today I lost my father, Hugh Warner. He taught me how to be a man, a fighter and a survivor. He taught me how to shoot a gun. How to drive. How to lead. He will always be the best dad in the world. Somehow and somewhere, I know he is with my mom now. I will keep my promise and never let you down. I miss and love you dad.”

Back in 2015, Hugh Warner posed with his son Marilyn Manson for Paper magazine. The shoot was straight out of a horror movie, with both father and son decked in black and sporting makeup that his son has been known to wear throughout his career. This was a sign of open support towards his son. The family was known to be orthodox and religious, and with an upbringing like that, having your son sing controversial lyrics on a stage and promote drugs and promiscuity, Hugh Warner still stood by him throughout his life and successful career spanning over two decades.
Marilyn Manson’s mother passed away three years ago, back in May of 2014. May Mr. Warner rest in peace.
