Recent media reports claim that the former contestant, singer and actress Jennifer Hudson could be joining the American Idol in the show’s 13th season. Sources close to the show’s production say that the star is in talks to become one of the three new judges on the panel.
The latest story surrounding the popular show, which is bound to bring new stars on board, is that Hudson is in the running as part of an all-alumni panel, which would include previous winners or contestants of the American Idol. Other names being mentioned at the moment include Kelly Clarkson, winner of season one and Clay Aiken, the runner-up on season two. Rumors are circulating that Adam Lambert, second on season eight, might also be joining the show.
However, rumors proved to be exactly that, as Kelly Clarkson and Adam Lambert both confirmed, through their publicists, that they will not be judges on AI. This is also not the first time the idea of an all-alumni version of the show is being considered. The producers needed to come up with something new when the ratings started to slip after season nine and the irony is that Jennifer Hudson was the first person to decline such offer.
New judges are usually introduced in September, when the new season’s auditions start. Until then, it remains to be seen whether Hudson will be joining current panel, including Nicki Minaj, Mariah Carey and Keith Urban, or will she be one of the stars joining AI panel for the first time.
