The music world may be still reeling from the deaths of Chris Cornell and Chester Bennington, but other living artists just can’t seem to catch a break. The celebrity under target is the one people love to hate – Justin Bieber. The pop superstar recently announced that he will be cancelling the remainder of his Purpose World Tour. The reason given by his team was “unforeseen circumstances”. Fans, instead of understanding that the 23-year-old star may need a break, are instead trolling him on social media.
In the virtual world of indecipherable whining, there is one man who is standing up for Justin Bieber. And that is none other than blues musician, John Mayer. The singer had last week taken to Twitter, showing that he had The Biebs’ back. He had said, “When someone pulls remaining dates of a tour, it means they would have done real damage to themselves if they kept going. We’ve lost so many great artists lately. I give Justin [two thumbs up emojis] for realizing it was time to call it. You should too.”
Fans continued to verbally attack Bieber, demanding that he keep to his commitments and complete the remainder of the tour. The singer has already been on the road for over a year now, travelling to different parts of the world, always having to face the screaming of ardent fans and the constant flashing of the paparazzi.
So, John Mayer has once again come to Justin Bieber’s defence. In another tweet, the singer reiterated his thoughts. “Without touring dates, you hope you do them all, and I don’t know his situation, but I appreciated the transparency. There are a hundred different reasons you can give for canceling a tour. I think the one that goes, ‘I think I’m done’, is the bravest and healthiest one.”
