Hip hop superstar Kanye West has decided to postpone his Australian tour dates in order to work on his upcoming studio album. The news has been reported on April 1, 2014 by Live Nation Australasia and representatives for the concert promoter confirmed that this was not an April Fool’s Day joke.

Kanye West postpones Australian tour to work on new album

Live Nation Australasia released a press statement, which read, “Due to unexpected timing requirements to finish his highly anticipated new studio album, scheduled for a 2014 release, Kanye West regretfully announces the postponement of his upcoming tour dates in Australia.” Though disappointing for his fans Down Under, the latest news does not come as a huge shock, as it has been reported in December 2013 that the ‘Stronger’ rapper has been working on his seventh studio record which will most likely be released in summer 2014.

The famous rapper’s seven-date tour of Australia was previously scheduled from May 2, 2014 until May 11, 2014, but the dates have been postponed for September 2014. New album aside, there are also plenty of speculations that West delayed his tour dates in order to give priority to his wedding with Kim Kardashian.

The ‘All Of The Lights’ rapper will be performing in the UK and Europe during summer festivals and will return for a full tour in January 2015. Here are the official tour dates in Australia for West’s ‘Yeezus’ tour:

Sept. 5 – Perth, Perth Arena
Sept. 7 – Adelaide, Entertainment Centre
Sept. 9 – Melbourne, Rod Laver Arena
Sept. 10 – Melbourne, Rod Laver Arena
Sept. 12 – Sydney, Qantas Credit Union Arena
Sept. 13 – Sydney, Qantas Credit Union Arena
Sept. 15 – Brisbane, Entertainment Centre
