Pop superstar Katy Perry is set to break some records in 2013. The ‘I Kissed A Girl’ singer’s latest single ‘Roar’ just keeps getting bigger and music industry sources are suggesting that her new song will most likely debut with 525,000 to 550,000 downloads sold. Judging by the catchy tune’s reception, the analysts are raising the stakes, as the forecast for ‘Roar’ was first at 400,000, then at 450,000, only to be raised even higher.

Katy Perry set to break records with new single Roar

The ‘Part of Me’ singer’s highly-anticipated track ‘Roar’ will easily allow Perry to claim the biggest sales week of 2013 for a song and will also mark her largest sales week ever. For the time being, single ‘Firework’ – which managed to sell 509,000 downloads after Christmas 2010 – is her largest sales week. On the other hand, Perry’s fellow pop superstar Lady Gaga’s sales projection for ‘Applause’ remains unchanged and the new single should sell around 200,000 to 225,000 downloads. The official sales figures for both songs will be announced by Nielsen SoundScan on August 21, 2013.

Perry’s ‘Roar’ and Gaga’s ‘Applause’ were released to digital retailers on Monday, August 12, 2013 and Tuesday, August 13, 2013, respectively and are announcing the stars’ upcoming, eagerly-anticipated albums. Katy Perry is set to release ‘Prism’ on October 22, 2013, while Lady Gaga will debut ‘ArtPop’ on November 11, 2013.

The ‘Last Friday Night (T.G.I.F.)’ singer’s last album, 2010’s release ‘Teenage Dream’ was announced by the first single ‘California Gurls’ and reached No. 1 on the Digital Songs chart, selling 294,000 copies.
