American singer and songwriter Katy Perry has all the reasons to celebrate yet again, as her new album ‘Prism’ debuted at No. 1 on Billboard Top 200 chart. However, the news must not come as a surprise as the ‘Firework’ singer was aiming for this from the day she announced the latest release. About 286,344 copies of the record have been sold and managed to earn her best sales week of her career until now.
Perry sold almost 50% more copies of the new album ‘Prism’, compared to what she did for ‘Teenage Dream’ in 2010. Even the earlier record had the same craze with her loyal fans with its first single, the massive hit ‘California Gurls’, which did the same thing as the latest single ‘Roar’ did for ‘Prism’. In addition to that, Perry also managed to score the largest sales week for a female artist in the US in 2013.
Despite the fact that the album leaked a week before it was supposed to be released, the figures are quite impressive. The record went online and was welcomed with open arms by Perry’s fans, who have been anticipating the new release for some time. While talking about Prism in 2012, the ‘I Kissed A Girl’ singer said that she knows exactly what she wants to record next and that she even knows about its artwork, coloring and tone.
Perry also said back then that she knows what type of tour she will be doing next.
