Temptations band member are devastated after losing their basist
The Temptations, which came into existence back in 1960 is a Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award winner. It has sold millions of albums and is the most successful band in the music history. But lately the band is going through a difficult phase as their bassist, Kerry Turman, died hours after their performance in Cape Girardeau, Missouri, on Saturday night.
The news of the 59 year old bassist’s death was confirmed by The Temptations official Facebook and Twitter page, after they posted a photo of the late bassist along with the message “The Temptations lost a dear member of our family, as bass player Kerry Turman has passed away. Rest In Peace, much love, much respect.”
Kerry had been with the band for the past 33 years, his death came across as a shock to the band members and fans, as it was a sudden one. Although autopsy reports indicate that his death was due to natural causes, the official cause will only be known after the full autopsy.
The Temptations have given many hit singles like The Way You Do the Things You Do, My Girl, It’s Growing, Beauty Is Only Skin Deep, Cloud Nine, Run Away Child, Running Wild to name a few. They have recently collaborated with The Beach Boys for the Surf & Soul Tour. Two of America’s greatest band have been doing concerts since February, 2017.
On the unfateful morning of April 23rd, 2017 after their performance at Cape Girardeau, Turman was found unresponsive in his hotel room at around 7a.m, as told by Mike. Mike also went on to say that “KT was a gentle giant with incredible talent. He played bass on songs that will forever be part of our American songbook for the last 33 years. He was always so kind and jovial. KT was known to be a devoted father and family man. We certainly would’ve understood if the Temps canceled their performance in St Charles, MO, but they soldiered on in KT’s memory and honor. KT’s bass stood in his place tonight. We performed In support of our touring family, The Temptations honoring the memory and talent of our family member, KT. His smile and spirit will be missed. R.I.P. KT. Peace & Love.”
We wish all the love to Kerry Turman, may this exceptional bassist rest in peace.
