American singer and song writer Lady Gaga was forced to cancel the rest of her Born This Way Tour. The singer has torn soft tissues in her hip joint after years of touring, due to which she has to undergo surgery.
Tests on the ‘Poker Face’ singer revealed that the pop diva had torn a ring of soft elastic which is known as the labrum in her right hip. The injury needs surgery to be repaired. Usually athletes and dancers develop a tear in this tissue and such injuries can be fixed using the arthroscopic surgical techniques.
Many concerts of the ‘Bad Romance’ singer have been called off as a result, these include a show on February 22, 2013 at Madison Square Garden and a March 6, 2013 show at Barclays Centre in Brooklyn. Concert goers who had purchased their tickets in advance will get a refund at the point of purchase, beginning Thursday.
Around four performances by Lady Gaga were cancelled on February 12, 2013 including those in Chicago, Hamilton and Detroit. Gaga also said that she has been hiding her injury (known as synovitis) from her managers and fellow performers, but the recent announcement has suggested that the injury is a serious one.
