Pop superstar Lady Gaga is getting ready to release her second single, the successor to ‘Applause’ and it has been revealed that the new song will be ‘Venus’. The ‘Poker Face’ singer took to Twitter on Thursday, October 10, 2013 and made a promise to her loyal fans that if they guess correctly the new single off ‘ARTPOP’ by getting it trending on Twitter, she would make the announcement.

Lady Gaga set to release Venus as second single

After Gaga’s Little Monsters made a few wrong guesses (they tried guessing ‘Donatella’, ‘Gypsy’ and ‘Manicure’ first), they got  #VENUS trending on Twitter before 7:30 p.m. EST and the ‘Alejandro’ singer, as promised, ended the game and made the official announcement. The upcoming single’s title, ‘Venus’, is most likely a reference to ‘The Birth of Venus’,  the Italian artist Botticelli’s famous painting. The same piece of art – though only its fragments – can be found on Gaga’s ‘ARTPOP’ cover.

Along with the name of the second single, the ‘Born This Way’ singer announced that ‘Venus’ is scheduled to be released on October 27, 2013. Gaga also tweeted a couple of hashtags with the announcement, including #TAKEMETOYOURPLANET, #TAKEMETOYOURLEADER and #TAKEMETOYOURVENUS, which might have something to do with the song’s lyrics.

Prior to the second single announcement, the ‘Alejandro’ singer revealed the official track list for ‘ARTPOP’ and a lyric video for ‘Aura’. In addition to that, the pop superstar confirmed that the first 500,000 copies of the album will have the original  hot pink and silver foil, designed by artist Jeff Koons.
