In the month of May this year, American singer Lady Gaga called the city of New York as her husband. And now the singer has to help the city to enter the New Year in the most traditional way by dropping the ball in Times Square.
Reports say that Mayor Michael Bloomberg has made Gaga as the special guest at New York’s annual New Year’s Eve celebration. The singer at the event will be ceremoniously pushing a Waterford Crystal button at 11: 59 pm on the 31st night.
This will officially begin popular crystal ball’s descent over the Times Square crowd. After the official announcement was made the Gaga took her Twitter account and wrote, “I’m so looking forward to … dropping the Ball with Mayor Bloomberg! What an honor as a New Yorker!”
Every year the Mayor chooses a guest to drop the ball and help to welcome the New Year and till date Gaga will be the most unique celebrity to do the honors. Earlier the guests to do the honors included Hillary Clinton, Bill Clinton, Colin Powell, Muhammed Ali and Rudi Giuliani. Apart from dropping the ball at the Time Square, the singer will also be performing at two New Year’s Eve events.
