Ever since they broke up in 1980, following the death of drummer John Bonham, Led Zeppelin fans have been looking forward to the band getting back together. Considered to be one of the greatest rock bands of all time, Led Zeppelin have weathered many a storm and controversy, however they have not been able to reunite for a substantial period of time. Fans will now have to be satisfied with Jimmy Page, Robert Plant and John Paul Jones sitting down for a chat with David Letterman on Friday December 3, 2012.
Earlier in 2007, the band did play a tribute gig for Ahmet Ertegun, who is the founder of Atlantic Records , at the O2 Arena in London. This gig was released as a DVD collectible entitled ‘Celebration Day’ and had John Paul Jones featuring on it. Jones has been estranged from Page and Plant ever since the band’s breakup and as a result the group has never really been able to go hold things together.
There have been various rumors floating around that the band will reunite, but this has never turned into a reality. Led Zeppelin have been credited with influencing the course of rock music with their heavier guitars and unique vocal styles and phrasing. The band enjoyed most of their success throughout the 1960’s and 1970’s, with ‘Stairway to Heaven’ being one of their most well-known songs.
