British pop superstar Lily Allen is back on the music scene and is reaching top spots on the charts yet again. The ‘Smile’ singer recently released her new single ‘Somewhere Only We Know’ – a festive cover of Keane’s song – and managed to return to the No. 1 spot of the UK singles chart, after being knocked from it last week.

Lily Allen claims No. 1 spot in UK with Somewhere Only We Know

The ‘Not Fair’ singer has beaten not one, but two of One Direction’s singles, ‘Story Of My Life’ and ‘Of The Night’, which then had to settle with No. 2 and No. 3, respectively. Meanwhile, ‘Under Control’ by Calvin Harris, Alesso and Hurts – which scored the top spot last week – came in at No. 4 and Gary Barlow’s new single ‘Let Me Go’ rounds up the top five list.

Allen recorded her latest track in November 2013 for the Christmas advert for John Lewis – a chain of department stores in the UK – and the song managed to score the No. 1 spot two weeks ago, but outsold One Direction by only 6,000 copies this week.

It has been reported by the Official Charts Company that ‘I Will Wait’ by Mumford and Sons has made a return to the Official Singles Chart Top 40 and climbed 49 places – to No. 33 – on Sunday, December 8, 2013.
