British pop superstar Lily Allen’s latest single, a cover of Keane’s ‘Somewhere Only We Know’ is doing well in the UK and has managed to remain at the number one spot for a second week. The single – which is used in a festive TV advertisement for department store John Lewis – is most likely going to be the number one song during Christmas as well.
Meanwhile, in the album chart, One Direction’s ‘Midnight Memories’ has been knocked down from the number one spot by Robbie Williams and his latest release ‘Swings Both Ways’, while Beyonce’s self-titled ‘visual album’ – which was released without any notice and surprised the entire world – came in at number five. The pop diva’s fifth record – which features 14 songs and 17 videos – qualified for the chart placing as it sold 68,000 copies in 48 hours.
Allen’s new single, which was first released by Keane back in 2004 is the ‘Smile’ singer’s third number one. Even though it had some tough competition in Swedish DJ Avicii’s ‘Hey Brother’ – which jumped from number eight to number two – and Leona Lewis’s ‘One More Sleep’, Allen’s ‘Somewhere Only We Know’ managed to hold on to the top spot.
Meanwhile, Williams’ highly anticipated record has sold over 400,000 copies and it reached the top spot in the first week of its release, but was knocked off it just one week later.
