In a year of legendary deaths, break-ups, hook-ups and anything in between, here is another dose of sadness for those who can still stomach 2016 – Latino pop singer Marc Anthony has filed for divorce from his wife, model Shannon De Lima. While ex Jennifer Lopez is getting all cozy with Drake, another Hollywood marriage is coming to an end.
The tabloids went crazy a few weeks ago, when JLo and Marc performed together at the Latin Grammy Awards. However, it wasn’t their scintillating duet that caught the headlines – after their performance, JLo leaned in and passionately kissed her ex-husband and the father to her 6-year-old twins. Immediately after that, De Lima separated from her crooning husband, probably feeling insecure like any other woman when you’re around a bombshell like JLo.
And now the You Sang To Me hitmaker has officially filed for divorce from his wife of 2 years. The reason for the divorce, as stated in official documents is that the marriage is ‘irretrievably broken’. So sad. The couple had wed in November 2014 and the split is said to be amicable, with the couple dividing their property privately in the separation.
On December 21 of this year, the soon-to-be exes released a joint statement, saying: “After much consideration, we have mutually and amicably decided to end our two year marriage. We ask for privacy during this difficult process, and no further comments will be made from either one of us about this personal matter.”
This will be a third failed marriage for Anthony. He was previously married to beauty pageant queen Dayanara Torres and they share two children together. He was also famously married for 7 years to fellow pop star Jennifer Lopez, and they also share two kids together. He also has an adult child from a previous relationship. De Lima has a 9-year-old child from a previous relationship.
Close sources to the couple say that Anthony isn’t one who is meant for marriage. While even being around him, spouses feel neglected due to his bachelor behavior and tendency to zone out and concentrate on work. We wish the couple a peaceful holiday season and hope they work things out for themselves and their children.
