Mariah Carey may not be topping the pop charts anymore, but she continues to bring her sparkle to the small screen. The diva recently starred in her reality show, Mariah’s World where we saw everything, from her extravagant lifestyle, to her short-lived love affair with former fiancé and Australian billionaire, James Packer. And it seems like Carey isn’t done with television. If reports are to be believed, she will soon play the real-life role of executive producer on a show that is roughly based on her life.
The yet-untitled project will chronicle the early life of a biracial teen who struggles and becomes the world’s biggest pop star. The Starz Network is reportedly signing on to air the show, that is based on New York in the 1980s. The show is said to be written by Nina Coleman. Mariah Carey will have her manager, Stella Bulochnikov as her co-executive producer, along with her high-flying Hollywood friend, Brett Ratner.
Mariah Carey was one of the biggest pop stars during the ’80s and throughout the ’90s, selling millions of records and sold-out shows all across the world. However, more than her angelic vocals, she is known as one of the biggest divas of our time. Her regular shading of fellow pop stars is big-time fodder for the tabloids. One of her most recent shades was towards rapper Nicki Minaj, and the two regularly sparred on singing reality show, American Idol.
