Shock rocker Marilyn Manson is all set to star in TV’s most horrific series, Salem as they begin to shoot for their Third Season this January.
Salem, a supernatural fiction drama about the Salem Witch trials that took place in the 17th century during the Puritan era, is produced by WGN America.
The Deep Six singer will be playing the role of Thomas Dinley, “the go-to man in Salem, from a shave and a haircut to being leeched, bled, sliced open or sewn up”. Sounds terrifying. Considering it is the self-proclaimed Anti-Christ Superstar who will be playing this iconic role, expect it to be as gory, dark and bloody as any of his music videos have been. After all, it’s just another Marilyn Manson appearance!
This isn’t the first time that Manson has played a role on TV – he was also a part of the cast of legendary FX Series’ Sons Of Anarchy, in which he played Ron Tully, a white supremacist, and in Once Upon A Time as Peter Pan’s shadow. He will also be starring as Lewis Carroll in his own production, Phantasmagoria: The Visions Of Lewis Carroll, that has been in the making since 2004 but finally hopes to see the light of day soon.
Marilyn Manson last released the album The Pale Emperor in 2015. The album has received positive reviews since it’s release and touted as a hit, after a number of years of the singer’s personal and professional struggles.
In the meanwhile, Salem has been garnering a wide audience since its debut in April 2014 and tells the fictional tale of a lady, Mary Sibley (played by Janet Montgomery) and her gothic romance with John Alden (played by Shane West) during the traumatic persecution of anyone wavering slightly away from the Puritan rulers of the day. Direct-to-TV viewers totaled to over 350,000 for it’s second season, not including online streamers and downloaders.
