Popular American heavy metal band Mastodon is making a comeback to the music scene. The ‘Crack The Skye’ musicians have revealed that their upcoming record – their first since 2011 – will have its debut in 2014 and will be titled ‘Once More Round The Sun’. The band’s new album will be released via Warner Bros. Records and it was produced by Nick Raskulinecz, who worked with Alice In Chains, Deftones and Rush, among others.
The ‘Blood And Thunder’ musicians’ last album was ‘The Hunter’ – which was released in 2011 – and received highly positive reviews from critics, who said that Mastodon showed increasing accessibility. Troy Sanders, the lead singer of the metal band explained that the new album is pure and authentic Mastodon.
Sanders said, “A lot of people ask us if it kicks off where The Hunter left off. And to a large degree, I suppose yes. We recorded it and took it on the road with us, and then we headed back to our rehearsal space and started working out ideas.” He went on to say that he has had plenty of time to ingest the record and that it is solid.
Mastodon also revealed that 30 minutes of recorded music had not made it to ‘Once More Round The Sun’ and that it will be released as an EP. The band will kick off its tour in the US later in April 2014.
