The First Lady of the United States, Michelle Obama is all set to launch a hip-hop album, which will feature songs based on healthy living and exercising. The album has been titled ‘Songs for a Healthier America’ and it is created in conjunction with ‘Let’s Move’ campaign. The upcoming album will have 19 tracks and will feature singers like Jordin Sparks, Ashanti and DMC.
The upcoming album is expected to be released in September 2013 and will concentrate on children, while focusing on messages of eating healthy and exercising regularly. For the album, Mrs. Obama has teamed up with some big names in the music industry, like Jordin Sparks, Ashanti and DMC, in order to record it.
However, it has been made clear that the First Lady will not be heard singing or rapping on the album, but will be releasing the collection to support her ‘Let’s Move’ campaign. The campaign was formed in 2010 to help fight childhood obesity. For the cause, Mrs. Obama has also teamed up with Partnership for a Healthier America, an independent group that is also working towards solving the issue.
Together, the organizations will be launching ten music videos from the album by summer 2014, which will then be distributed to schools in New York.
