Popular music networks MTV, VH1 and CMT announced on June 4, 2013, that concert goers can now enjoy the ‘Live Music Day Festival’ at the convenience of their own homes. Three music channels added that this will be the biggest online-only event of its kind.

It is a 24-hour virtual concert which will begin at 7 PM EDT on June 19, 2013. The event will feature performances from more than 50 bands and artists of various genres like pop, R&B, indie, rock and folk. Some of the artists already announced include Atlas Genius, Hanson, Kate Nash, Langhorne Slim and Labrinth. The performances will be accompanied by the fan-picked O Music Awards and will be streamed live from Viacom’s offices in New York, Los Angeles and Nashville.

The entire show will be available to watch via computers, tablets, laptops and smartphones. Viewers will also be given the option to select only the performers and awards they want to see. Dermot McCormack, head of connected content for Viacom Music, said in a statement, “We’ve created the first-of-its-kind music festival that’s both connecting artists and fans and allowing them to participate in the awards and festival in new ways”. MTV and sister channels VH1 and CMT are also a part of Viacom Inc group.
