Lynrd.com: After the release of the single ‘Starships’, the hip hop credibility of music star Nicki Minaj is under question. Many of the fans of the singer are now wondering if she is selling out for the pop charts and is just deserting her former music style.
But the hip hop queen says that she is not showing her back to the hip hop community. In an interview with Hot 97s Funkmaster Flex, the ‘Super Bass’ singer defended her choices of releasing the songs and stated that she beleived some of them would be too radio-friendly for her core fans.
Minaj went on to say that she hoped people knew at this point that she is smart enough to know what she is doing exactly all the time. But now she feels that she may be under the wrong impression and she always intended in putting out something urban after ‘Starships’ as she knew that the single was actually a monster.
The singer also said that she feels really good and that hip-hop cares enough that they have something to say. But now Minaj is not going to apologize for releasing music for pop consumption.
Nicki Minaj’s second album, Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded will be released on April 3, 2012.
