It’s that time of the year again, when legends become a part of what is the prestigious Rock N Roll Hall of Fame. They are those who have made a unique and indelible mark in the world of music and continue to influence generations with their artful work and contribution to the music industry. And now, without further adieu, we have the nominee list for the Rock N Roll Hall of Fame Inductees 2017:
Electric Light Orchestra
J Geils Band
In case you’re wondering why some of your favorite bands aren’t listed here, that’s because nominees are supposed to have released their first recording not less than 25 years ago (circa 1991). Also, they are picked because of their “musical influence on other artists, length and depth of career and the body of work, innovation and superiority in style and technique”.
The list is really intense, and if you’re in anyway acquainted with the music of any of these artists, you’re already hoping your favorite gets in (and by that we obviously mean our top choice: Pearl Jam). Ballots are soon going out to 800 international voting bodies of those related and influential to the music industry. The great news is that fans can vote for who they feel deserves to be in the final list and inducted into the Hall in Cleveland. Voting opened online on Tuesday, October 18 and you can visit rockhall.com to cast your precious vote till December 5! The final list will be revealed in December, where the Top 5 fan choices will be picked, along with those who were voted in through international ballot.
Once all the votes are in and counted, the announcement ceremony will be conducted in April 2017 at Barclay Center in New York.
