The IFPI Global Recording Artist Chart said that the London based pop boy band One Direction were the biggest UK artist in the world in 2014. The body analyses in terms of downloading, CD sales and streaming.
The boy band has sold more than 3.5 million tickets in 2014 and said, “We just want to thank all our amazing fans everywhere. Every time we visit a new country we feel instantly accepted and it’s mind-blowing to think the five of us have been able to connect with so many people.”
The competition was tough with Ed Sheeran and Sam Smith as they dominated the charts but the sold out stadium tours and the success of their recent album ‘Four’ have helped them to get to the position. The members of the team Zayn, Harry, Niall, Liam and Louis said, “We just want to thank all our amazing fans everywhere.” The members added that every time they visited a new country they felt they were instantly accepted.
Label chief Simon Cowell too expressed that he was proud of his boys and is absolutely delighted. One Direction has managed to get this position for the third year in a row and was also recently named as the biggest selling artist of 2014.
