Tennessee’s favorite punk trio – Paramore are now short by one member – their bassist, Jeremy Davis has quietly said his goodbyes and walked on to something else.
In an official announcement made on their Facebook page, they described the exit as “painful”, but promised fans that this would not be the end of the band that changed the face of rock music since their debut in 2004.
Davis has been a part of Paramore from its early days, though he left once before while they were recording All We Know Is Falling, but he returned later. Paramore’s latest release was their self-titled album in 2013 that reached No. 1 on the charts.
This is not the first time that the band has witnessed the departure of a member. After Brand New Eyes was recorded in 2009, brothers Josh and Zac Farro made a surprise exit.
For their post, the fractured band stated:
“The self-titled era was one we knew would be important for us, but also one we’d eventually have to move on from. In moving forward, there is growth, pain, and change –and sometimes the change is not at all what you hoped for.
“We’ve written and re-written this countless times and there’s just not a good way to put it. Jeremy is no longer going to be in the band with us. This has been really painful.”
“After taking time to consider how to move forward, we ultimately found that we really do believe Paramore can and should continue. And so we will.”
They also said that they are “excited for what Jeremy’s going to do next.”
